Heads up!

¿Alguna vez escucharon esta expresión? Se usa para referirse a un aviso o una advertencia sobre algo. No necesariamente se tiene que dar gritando, así que no se dejen llevar por la foto. ¿Cómo y cuándo se usa, entonces? Veamos.

1) A: Hey, it's the boss's birthday today.
         Che, hoy es el cumpleaños del jefe.
     B: Oh, I totally forgot. Thanks for the heads up!
          Huy, me re olvidé. ¡Gracias por avisarme!

2) A: Excuse me, sir. I think you've a flat tire.
         Disculpe, señor. Creo que se le pinchó una goma.
    B: Oh... I knew there was something wrong with the car but I couldn't tell what. Thanks for the heads up!
        Uh... Sabía que el auto tenía algo pero no me podía dar cuenta de qué era. ¡Gracias por avisarme!

3) Ana: There's no toilet paper in the restrooms. Ask the waitress for some.
             No hay papel higiénico en el baño. Pedile a la moza.
    Mary: Oh, thanks for the heads up!
              Ah, ¡gracias por el aviso!

4) A: Did you know that Professor Smith was not coming this morning?
         ¿Vos sabías que el profesor Smith no venía esta mañana?
     B: Yeah, why? Did you come to class this morning?
          Sí, ¿por? ¿Vos viniste a clase hoy a la mañana?
     A: Yeah, thank you for giving me the heads up...
          Sí, gracias por avisar....

5) A: Hey, everybody! I just want to give you the heads up that there's a strike tomorrow, so we are not coming to the office. We're doing home working.
         ¡Escuchen todos! Les quería avisar que mañana hay paro, así que no vamos a venir a la oficina. Vamos a trabajar desde casa.
